Clarksville Independent School District

Spinal Screenings

Posted Date: 03/26/26 (10:23 AM)

Dear Parent/Guardian,

Clarksville Independent School District will be conducting spinal screenings for students the week of April 6, 2026. These screenings are required by the State of Texas and are intended to detect early signs of abnormal spinal curvature (scoliosis) so that appropriate follow-up care can be recommended if necessary.

The screening is simple and conducted by trained personnel in a manner that respects each student’s privacy. Boys and girls will be screened separately.

To help ensure an accurate screening, please note the following recommendations:

  • Students should wear or bring shorts to school on the day of the screening.

  • Girls should wear a thin t-shirt or sports bra underneath their clothing.

  • Students may be asked to remove bulky outer garments (such as hoodies or sweaters) during the screening.

If you prefer that your child not participate in the spinal screening, please submit a written request to your child’s campus nurse prior to April 6, 2026.

If you have any questions regarding the screening process, please contact your child’s campus nurse or the school office for additional information.

Thank you for your cooperation in helping us support the health and well-being of our students.

Sincerely,

Mindy Roberts
